Robert Lee Beers III – SC District 1
Born in Charleston, SC, and raised across Ohio and South Carolina, Robert built a life based on hard work and community values. After injury ended his long hours on the job, he discovered his voice wasn’t just for work—it was meant for public service.
From day one, Robert has balanced multiple jobs and family life while pursuing education in technology—completing Google’s cybersecurity course and earning CompTIA Security+ certification. He then worked in customer service and saw firsthand how corporations prioritize profits over people.
He returned to public engagement by running for Congress to stand up for everyday families. In office, Robert will continue to fight for stronger schools, equal pay, transparent government, affordable healthcare, and full support for veterans.
Robert lives in Bonneau and is married with two children. His marriage is evolving—his wife has discovered she’s happier being with a woman, and he fully supports her journey. Robert believes that love and happiness are sacred, no matter who they’re between, and he’ll carry that same acceptance and understanding into how he represents the people of District 1—because everyone deserves dignity and respect.

Green Economy

It's time to think about nature and use its renewable resources to progress.

Better Care

We need to review the medical system in America and adjust it to current needs.

Housing

We’ll require local authorities to review and cap rent payments that consume between 40% and 60% of a household’s income—an urgent response to burdens far exceeding the HUD-recommended maximum of 30%

We Can Do This Together:

  • School assistance

I’ll secure federal funding for high-quality early learning and pre-K programs, ensuring every child in District 1 enters school prepared and supported—mirroring successful models with strong economic and social returns, I’ll also invest in new textbooks and open-license course materials, promote vocational training, and expand affordable college pathways—so all students graduate debt-free and ready for career success.

  • Updated Minimum Wage

I will fight to raise the minimum wage to a genuine living wage, structured in phases, and ensure it’s automatically adjusted each year to keep pace with inflation and the real cost of living. By doing this, we’ll lift working families out of poverty, strengthen consumer purchasing power, and ensure full-time work supports a decent life.

  • Restoration of infrastructure

South Carolina’s infrastructure is struggling—our roads earn a “D” grade, over half are in poor condition, and funding gaps for bridges, dams, and water systems are projected to reach $43 billion by 2040 My plan is to secure federal and state funding—leveraging initiatives like the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law—to rebuild our roads and bridges, upgrade stormwater and drinking-water systems, and modernize our dams. I’ll push for a locally focused Infrastructure Recovery Task Force to prioritize high-impact projects in District 1, ensuring every dollar repairs our communities, supports local jobs, and keeps us safe and connected.

  • Term Limits

I support implementing a 12-year cap for members of Congress to curb careerism, reduce special interest influence, and ensure fresh leadership and accountability. I also advocate for 18-year term limits for Supreme Court Justices, with staggered appointments every two years—bringing transparency, fairness, and balance back to our institutions.

  • Citizens before Corperations

When emergencies strike, taxpayer support must prioritize families and small businesses—not prop up corporations whose executives walk away with bonuses. We must demand bailouts only when core to public welfare, with strict accountability, ensuring our recovery lifts everyone, not just the powerful.

  • Balanced Budget

I’ll champion a structurally balanced federal budget, ensuring that in typical economic times, government spending doesn't exceed revenues—while still allowing targeted investments when truly needed. Critically, we'll put a priority on paying down the national debt, protecting future generations and strengthening economic stability.

Issues

Eradicate Hate & Violence

Comprehensive Hate Crimes Law:

Add a federal statutory framework similar to the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, covering violence, threats, or intimidation against individuals based on race, religion, gender identity, disability, or other protected characteristics

Poverty as the Root Cause:

You’ll fund community-driven projects, job training, affordable housing, and mental health services—because data shows that reducing poverty leads to long-term declines in hate and violence.

Cyberbullying Accountability for Platforms:

Any internet or social media platform that receives a credible report of cyberbullying resulting in serious harm or death—and fails to act within 48 hours—will be held legally and financially responsible.

Fair Wages

I propose a phased increase in the federal minimum wage to $20 per hour, annually adjusted for inflation. Evidence from California—where a $20 minimum for fast-food workers raised wages by 8–9%—shows it can boost incomes significantly with no drop in hiring, benefits, or work hours. By bringing this across the economy, we can dramatically reduce poverty, cut dependence on social programs, and inject billions into our local economies as workers finally earn a fair day's pay.
Benefits for District 1 – and Beyond
Better Lives, Stronger Cities: A $20 wage ensures full-time work provides for rent, food, healthcare, and savings—lifting families out of poverty and strengthening community well‑being.

Economic Stimulus: Low-income workers spend nearly every dollar they earn. By putting more money into their pockets, we’ll stimulate local businesses and boost commerce across our district.

Workforce Stability: Businesses in California report higher employee quality and improved retention after wage increases—meaning fewer turnovers and more reliable staffing .

Fiscal Relief: As wages rise, fewer families rely on federal assistance like SNAP or Medicaid, reducing taxpayer burdens and enhancing budget flexibility.

Education

Aligning with Global Excellence
U.S. students are falling behind their peers in key subjects like math and science, impacting our global competitiveness. My plan brings proven international education models home, integrating hands-on training and academic learning in high school. This blended approach will boost both technical skills and academic achievement, giving our students a true edge.

High Schools as Career Launchpads
In District 1, every high school student will choose a focused career pathway—be it in skilled trades, the military, or college prep. By teaching majors like renewable energy, cybersecurity, healthcare, or mechanics during high school, students will graduate with meaningful skills, certifications, and direction. This ensures they’re ready to thrive right after graduation—whether entering the workforce, further education, or service.

Preparing Students for the Future
This model empowers students with tangible abilities and opportunities, helps reduce youth unemployment, and strengthens our local economy. Whether joining college, the military, or an apprenticeship, District 1 graduates will be exceptional, future-ready leaders—and our community will benefit from their preparedness and purpose.

Give the Power of Congress Back to the People.

Your Voice, Your Vote, Your Power

Statement: Returning Power to the People
I'm introducing a constitutional amendment to ensure Congress votes according to the will of constituents, not party leaders or special interests. With a secure voting app and dedicated district website, residents of SC District 1 will cast real-time votes on upcoming bills, fully verified and transparent—no election waiting required. All inputs are public, and only verified district residents may participate, keeping the process honest and representative.

In addition, I will propose a law requiring regular, scheduled town halls, with emergency sessions triggered by citizen petition, ensuring your voice is heard—not only online. Each legislative vote must be preceded by at least one round of constituent input, and the results will guide my representation.

I'm also advocating constitutional reforms to limit terms of office, including 12-year caps for Congress members and 18-year terms for Supreme Court justices, along with the introduction of recall provisions. This strengthens accountability and keeps power from becoming entrenched. Combined with ethics reforms, enhanced transparency, and strict anti-corruption measures, we will ensure your voice can’t be drowned out by lobbyists or politicians.

🔐 Digital Engagement: Secure Voting App & Web Portal
Your control over representation starts with modern solutions. I will launch a secure, end-to-end encrypted voting app, allowing district residents to:

View upcoming bills with clear summaries;

Vote yes/no or propose amendments;

Track aggregated results in real-time;

See every vote and decision-making history—100% transparent.

This sets us apart and sets a new standard for democracy.

👐 Why It Matters for District 1
Empowered Communities: You direct my vote, not party bosses or donors.

Transparent Democracy: Every decision is visible, accountable, and reversible.

Responsive Governance: Regular and emergency town halls guarantee direct engagement.

Balanced Institutions: Term limits, recall powers, and ethics laws protect democracy itself.

**This campaign isn't about me—it's about building a government that works only for you. Basic rights, civic equity, and digital participation are how we reclaim democracy. Let’s return power to where it belongs: in your hands.

Robert Beers for Congress SC‑District 1: Transparency, Accountability & Power to the People

1. Constitutional Term Limits & Ethical Oversight
I’ll introduce a constitutional amendment instituting term limits: 12 years total in the House or Senate and 18 years for Supreme Court justices, with staggered Supreme Court appointments every two years. This reform will help prevent entrenched power, bring in fresh perspectives, and reduce the sway of special interests. Coupled with binding ethics codes and enforceable conflict-of-interest rules for legislators, justices, and executive appointees—including transparency for stock holdings and restricted gifts—this will reinforce public trust and integrity in all branches of government.

🔍 2. Overhauling Anti-Bribery & Transparency Laws
I will back a new “No Corruption in Government” Act to significantly strengthen anti-bribery statutes—expanding criminal penalties, extending restrictions on after-office lobbying, and banning gifts from lobbyists to any federal official. Our new Campaign Finance Reform Amendment will impose strict limits on corporate and PAC donations, require real-time disclosure of campaign funding, and empower public financing mechanisms. Together, these measures ensure politicians serve constituents—not deep-pocketed special interests.

🏛️ 3. Empowering Oversight & Accountability Mechanisms
To ensure robust oversight, I’ll champion legislation reinvigorating watchdog institutions: expanding inspector general authority, criminalizing executive interference in investigations, codifying the Supreme Court's ethics code, and modernizing the STOCK Act to eliminate insider trading by federal leaders. Additionally, I'll advocate for a constitutional amendment establishing recall powers for Congress members and mandatory constituent input—including through secure digital platforms—to discipline and, if necessary, remove officials who betray public trust.

By enacting these reforms—absolute term limits, tougher ethics laws, anti-corruption statutes, transparent campaign financing, and stronger oversight mechanisms—we will dismantle the existing abuses of power and reclaim democracy for the people. This comprehensive plan aligns with your belief: power belongs to the citizens, not the powerful. Let me know if you'd like me to draft specific bill language or further break down each legislative proposal.

Citizens First: The Democracy and Integrity Restoration Act

11. Preventing Government Shutdowns (Constitutional Amendment)
A bold proposal to end chronic shutdowns once and for all—guaranteeing back pay and hardship bonuses for federal workers, penalizing lawmakers who delay budgets, mandating annual deadlines, and activating an automatic resolution to keep the government running until funding is passed.

2. Mandated Attendance & Proxy Reform Amendment
Requiring members of Congress to be physically present for floor votes—except for narrowly defined exceptions. Proxy voting is limited to specified cases, and violations result in withheld pay, official warnings, and potential expulsion following repeated absenteeism.

3. Balanced-Budget Overhaul & Fiscal Accountability
Through both federal law and a constitutional amendment, this plan enforces a 10% annual deficit reduction beginning in FY 2026, sets agency spending caps tied to economic growth, and creates an Independent Fiscal Board—ensuring Congress lives within its means and actively reduces the national debt.

4. Term Limits & Governance Integrity
Limiting congressional service to 12 years (combined House/Senate), Supreme Court Justices to staggered 18-year terms, and introducing a recall mechanism—holding elected officials directly accountable to constituents, not lifelong incumbency or partisan agenda.

5. Anti-Corruption & Campaign Finance Reform
With the “Citizens First Act,” we’ll ban corporate money in elections via an amendment, strengthen anti-bribery laws, impose strict transparency in lobbying and gift disclosures, and bring campaign financing under real-time public scrutiny.

6. Universal Medical Records System
Designing a secure, nationwide health database that enables doctors, researchers, and patients to access real-time medical histories—reducing errors, improving treatment, and protecting privacy while preventing prescription abuses and emergency gaps.

🌐 Digital Democracy: Secure Voting App & Transparency Platform
I will build a protected, encrypted mobile app and website just for SC District 1—so residents can vote on bills in real time. All results are public, participation is verified, and every vote is recorded online. I’ll also host regular and emergency town halls informed by this input, ensuring your voice, not special interests, guides legislation.

✅ Why I’m the Best Candidate for District 1
Grounded in real-world experience—I’ve lived your struggles, worked long hours, and seen inefficiencies first-hand.

Focused on accountability—from fixing Congress’s ethics and attendance to auditing every dollar.

Pioneering direct democracy—you won’t just vote me in; you’ll guide every vote I cast.

Committed to integrity over ideology—no party lines, only your priorities.
